After Jesus had cho­sen his twel­ve disci­ples, he took them to his side to ins­truct them. Hard­ly kno­wing what to expect, they lis­ten­ed intent­ly to Jesus» Ser­mon on the Mount. «You are the salt of the earth and the light of the world».

With this state­ment, Jesus gave them and all others who were lis­tening – and who belie­ved in him – the task of making the Father in hea­ven and his king­dom known to the who­le world. Powerful words that have lost neither their mea­ning nor their signi­fi­can­ce to this day.

Words that are easy to under­stand in our ever­y­day lives, but who­se mea­ning still pres­ents us with chal­lenges time and again. Tog­e­ther we want to look at this state­ment today and take a clo­ser look at its pos­si­ble effects in our lives.
