\nIn our annu\u00adal the\u00adme of disci\u00adple\u00adship, we are tra\u00advel\u00adling with the peo\u00adp\u00adle of Isra\u00adel to the Pro\u00admi\u00adsed Land. After some time, Isra\u00adel came to Mount Sinai. God had met Moses, the lea\u00adder of the Israe\u00adli\u00adtes, the\u00adre and gave him the task of brin\u00adging the peo\u00adp\u00adle here (Exodus 3:12). \nGod led the Israe\u00adli\u00adtes from Egypt to this moun\u00adtain. He led them through the sea. He gave them food and drink. He hel\u00adped them against their enemies. So the ope\u00adning words are as fol\u00adlows: \u00abYou have seen what I did to the Egyp\u00adti\u00adans. I have brought you safe\u00adly here to me, just as an eagle car\u00adri\u00ades its young on its wings.\u00bb (Exodus 19:4 NLB<\/span>). Here at this place, some\u00adthing like a sto\u00adpo\u00adver fol\u00adlows. The peo\u00adp\u00adle rest here in this inhos\u00adpi\u00adta\u00adble place. It is pre\u00adcis\u00ade\u00adly this place that beco\u00admes an anchor point for Isra\u00adel. God has alre\u00ada\u00addy spo\u00adken in this place befo\u00adre. So far, some things are clear. God loves this unru\u00adly peo\u00adp\u00adle. He sup\u00adports them and helps them. But what is God\u2019s rela\u00adti\u00adonship with this peo\u00adp\u00adle? \nA coven\u00adant fol\u00adlows clear structures

Moses sprink\u00adled the peo\u00adp\u00adle with the blood from the basins and said, \u00abThis blood seals the coven\u00adant the LORD<\/span> has made with you by giving you the\u00adse laws\u00bb \u00bb (Exodus 24:3\u20138 NLB<\/span>).
\nA coven\u00adant fol\u00adlows clear struc\u00adtures, which I would like to intro\u00addu\u00adce to you. The ten words are the basic order of life for tho\u00adse whom God has rede\u00ade\u00admed from slavery. The intro\u00adduc\u00adtion to the\u00adse ins\u00adtruc\u00adtions is also good news: \u00abI am the LORD<\/span> your God, who has freed you from slavery in Egypt\u00bb (Exodus 20:2 NLB<\/span>). The aim of the coven\u00adant, as well as the ten words, is that the peo\u00adp\u00adle remain clo\u00adse to God.
\nIsra\u00adel ente\u00adred into this coven\u00adant vol\u00adun\u00adt\u00ada\u00adri\u00adly. It has con\u00adse\u00adquen\u00adces that were alre\u00ada\u00addy announ\u00adced by the thre\u00adats of bles\u00adsing and cur\u00adse when the coven\u00adant was made. This is also evi\u00addent in the fur\u00adther cour\u00adse of Israel\u2019s histo\u00adry. God always acts within the frame\u00adwork of the coven\u00adant, even when he punis\u00adhes the people.
