Our annu\u00adal the\u00adme CREATIO<\/span> inspi\u00adres me! The exami\u00adna\u00adti\u00adon of the ori\u00adgin of the world, the ori\u00adgin of huma\u00adni\u00adty, the ori\u00adgin of all being \u2013 ques\u00adti\u00adons ari\u00adse about the mea\u00adning and value of our exis\u00adtence. God has an idea con\u00adcer\u00adning this world and our life. He is the Crea\u00adtor and He stands at the begin\u00adning of ever\u00ady\u00adthing. We want to sur\u00adren\u00adder to His ways.<\/p>\n

The Good Gospel
\n\u00abAnd God bles\u00adsed them and com\u00adman\u00added them, \u00abBe fruitful and mul\u00adti\u00adply, popu\u00adla\u00adte the earth and pos\u00adsess it. Rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air and all the ani\u00admals of the earth\u00bb (Gene\u00adsis 1:28 NLB<\/span>).
\nThe gar\u00adden was a per\u00adfect pro\u00adto\u00adty\u00adpe for the cul\u00adti\u00adva\u00adti\u00adon of the earth. Man was given the task not only to mana\u00adge the gar\u00adden, but also to cul\u00adti\u00adva\u00adte the rest of the earth accor\u00adding to its model. This inspi\u00adres me! Whe\u00adre the\u00adre is life, the\u00adre is growth and deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment, not sta\u00adgna\u00adti\u00adon. God has not com\u00admis\u00adsio\u00adned us to main\u00adtain the sta\u00adtus quo, but to crea\u00adte and be crea\u00adti\u00adve in His image! As a tech-sav\u00advy per\u00adson, I can very much iden\u00adti\u00adfy with this aspect of our ori\u00adgi\u00adnal man\u00adda\u00adte. I belie\u00adve it is this ori\u00adgi\u00adnal dis\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adon that breeds inno\u00adva\u00adti\u00adon and pro\u00adgress. The cor\u00adre\u00adspon\u00adding pat\u00adterns are still visi\u00adble in huma\u00adni\u00adty today.
\nThe curse
\nHow is it that our world is curr\u00adent\u00adly in such a pre\u00adca\u00adrious sta\u00adte? Man as God inten\u00added him to be is only a shadow of his for\u00admer self. The sin of pri\u00adde and rebel\u00adli\u00adon has cor\u00adrupt\u00aded us \u2013 alre\u00ada\u00addy in para\u00addi\u00adse. Man\u00adkind ente\u00adred into a pact with the devil, and he has been tur\u00adning the divi\u00adne idea into the oppo\u00adsi\u00adte whe\u00adre\u00adver he can ever sin\u00adce. Man\u2019s best and see\u00admingly most hono\u00adura\u00adble efforts have always ended in cha\u00ados and des\u00adtruc\u00adtion. When we ele\u00adva\u00adte our\u00adsel\u00adves to the sta\u00adtus of god in order to build a new para\u00addi\u00adse, we actual\u00adly install hell on earth. Unfort\u00adu\u00adna\u00adte\u00adly, human histo\u00adry pro\u00adves this all too cle\u00adar\u00adly. As an exam\u00adp\u00adle, let us mention:
\nTower of Babel, colo\u00adni\u00adsa\u00adti\u00adon in the 17th &<\/span> 18th cen\u00adtu\u00adries, instal\u00adla\u00adti\u00adon of com\u00admu\u00adnist forms of govern\u00adment, the Third Reich, deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment aid of the last cen\u00adtu\u00adry, through
\nCon\u00adsu\u00admer eco\u00adno\u00admy cau\u00adsed oppres\u00adsi\u00adon and explo\u00adita\u00adti\u00adon, mur\u00adder of mil\u00adli\u00adons of unborn.
\nMan invol\u00adun\u00adt\u00ada\u00adri\u00adly plays the arche\u00adtyp\u00adal role of the tra\u00adgic hero; he usual\u00adly wants the good, but crea\u00adtes the evil \u2013 and peri\u00ads\u00adhes as a result. The cur\u00adrent zeit\u00adgeist in par\u00adti\u00adcu\u00adlar makes us belie\u00adve that we can impro\u00adve the world by our own efforts and decla\u00adre it a new para\u00addi\u00adse. Howe\u00adver, we are not awa\u00adre of our own depra\u00advi\u00adty and run in pri\u00adde and rebel\u00adli\u00adon against God.
\nThe breakthrough
\nWe all agree that the world needs rene\u00adwal and sal\u00adva\u00adti\u00adon. But for the world to actual\u00adly beco\u00adme new, man must first beco\u00adme new. Through their rebel\u00adli\u00adon against God, the first humans led the world into ruin. Jesus Christ, howe\u00adver, crea\u00adtes a new huma\u00adni\u00adty and thus breaks the cur\u00adse of self-des\u00adtruc\u00adtion! He calls for uncon\u00addi\u00adtio\u00adnal disci\u00adple\u00adship and pro\u00admi\u00adses new life! That is the good news \u2013 that is the Gospel!
\n\u00abBut you are no lon\u00adger ruled by your sin\u00adful natu\u00adre, but by the Spi\u00adrit of God, if God\u2019s Spi\u00adrit lives in you. But whoe\u00adver does not have the Spi\u00adrit of Christ does not belong to Christ\u00bb (Romans 8:9 NLB<\/span>).
\nDo you belie\u00adve in lite\u00adral\u00adly new life? Do you belie\u00adve that God is ali\u00adve and makes life fun\u00adda\u00admen\u00adtal\u00adly new? That is the true hope for this world \u2013 new\u00adly crea\u00adted and sur\u00adren\u00adde\u00adred peo\u00adp\u00adle. That is exact\u00adly what Jesus pro\u00admi\u00adses. And that is exact\u00adly the chan\u00adge Chris\u00adti\u00adans are com\u00admit\u00adted to.
\n\u00abFor all crea\u00adti\u00adon waits eager\u00adly for that day when God will reve\u00adal who tru\u00adly belongs to his child\u00adren\u00bb (Romans 8:19 NLB<\/span>).
\nA life of holiness
\nIn order to gain new life through Christ, we give our\u00adsel\u00adves 100% to His ide\u00adas \u2013 for He calls us to uncon\u00addi\u00adtio\u00adnal disci\u00adple\u00adship. Only when we fol\u00adlow him to the cross and lea\u00adve our old life behind, do we beco\u00adme tru\u00adly new peo\u00adp\u00adle. Are we real\u00adly rea\u00addy for that? The offer to join Jesus stands at any time. But it is all or not\u00adhing, hot or cold, hea\u00adven or hell. We call the pro\u00adcess of con\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adon rep\u00aden\u00adtance. Even if this word seems out\u00adda\u00adted and dus\u00adty: I belie\u00adve it is indis\u00adpensable for true free\u00addom. Only when I lea\u00adve sin behind can I be ful\u00adly on the way with God and draw from his strength. Some\u00adti\u00admes decay creeps back in \u2013 but then we know what to do: back to Jesus, back to res\u00adto\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon, and back to puri\u00adty. I belie\u00adve that after every honest rep\u00aden\u00adtance, God sees me as new and pure \u2013 and enables me to resist sin from then on.
\n\u00abBut now you are to be holy in ever\u00ady\u00adthing you do, just as God who cal\u00adled you is holy. For he hims\u00adelf has said, \u00abYou are to be holy becau\u00adse I am holy!\u00bb \u00bb (1 Peter 1:15\u201316 NLB<\/span>).
\nA life of holi\u00adne\u00adss and obe\u00addience is desi\u00adra\u00adble and not impos\u00adsi\u00adble \u2013 thanks to Jesus Christ! In histo\u00adry, count\u00adless peo\u00adp\u00adle have com\u00admit\u00adted them\u00adsel\u00adves to this life, and God has work\u00aded magni\u00adfi\u00adcent\u00adly through them! Examp\u00adles are: Diet\u00adrich Bon\u00adhoef\u00adfer (Con\u00adfes\u00adsing Church), Cor\u00adrie ten Boom (Saviour of the Jews), John Wes\u00adley (fight against slavery), Mother Tere\u00adsa (cha\u00adri\u00adty in India).<\/p>\n

A life of holi\u00adne\u00adss is an ade\u00adqua\u00adte qua\u00adli\u00adty assu\u00adrance for true world impro\u00adve\u00adment. It should the\u00adr\u00ade\u00adfo\u00adre be our hig\u00adhest goal to fol\u00adlow Jesus and give our lives com\u00adple\u00adte\u00adly to him. I chall\u00adenge you as an indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adal and us as a church to make a who\u00adle new thing with God again and again. God gave man\u00adkind in para\u00addi\u00adse the task to go into the who\u00adle world, to cul\u00adti\u00adva\u00adte it and to deve\u00adlop it fur\u00adther. In the same way, Jesus gives the new man the mis\u00adsi\u00adon to go into all the world and to call peo\u00adp\u00adle to fol\u00adlow him.
\n\u00abThe\u00adr\u00ade\u00adfo\u00adre go to all nati\u00adons and make disci\u00adples of them. Bap\u00adti\u00adse them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spi\u00adrit, and teach them to keep all the com\u00admandments which I have given you. And I assu\u00adre you: I am with you always, to the end of the age\u00bb (Matthew 28:19\u201320 NLB<\/span>).
\nA life for more. More than luxu\u00adry, more than pure sal\u00adva\u00adti\u00adon, more than self-rea\u00adli\u00adsa\u00adti\u00adon, more than acti\u00advism. A life of com\u00adple\u00adte sur\u00adren\u00adder and holi\u00adne\u00adss \u2013 that is what we are cal\u00adled to.

\tWhich aspect of the ori\u00adgi\u00adnal man\u00adda\u00adte to huma\u00adni\u00adty appeals to you per\u00adso\u00adnal\u00adly? (God\u2019s man\u00adda\u00adte to man to ste\u00adward the earth)
\n\tWhat do you see as the cor\u00adrup\u00adti\u00adon of huma\u00adni\u00adty? To what ext\u00adent do you see traits of it in your own life?
\n\tHow lite\u00adral\u00adly do you under\u00adstand Jesus\u00bb pro\u00admi\u00adse to give new life?
\n\tDoes a life of holi\u00adne\u00adss appeal to you? What keeps you from it?
