Ever\u00ady\u00adwhe\u00adre it is chan\u00adging people\u2019s lives, just as it chan\u00adged yours from the moment you heard and knew the truth about the grace of God\u00bb (Colos\u00adsi\u00adans 1:6 NL<\/span>).<\/p>\n

Chan\u00adge \u2013 that\u2019s a ter\u00adri\u00adble word for some peo\u00adp\u00adle, becau\u00adse they love it when ever\u00ady\u00adthing con\u00adti\u00adnues in the usu\u00adal style. \u00abJust no chan\u00adge \u2013 plea\u00adse!\u00bb Others, howe\u00adver, love chan\u00adge. My wife recent\u00adly reve\u00ada\u00adled to me that she would like to rear\u00adran\u00adge the living room. In the mean\u00adti\u00adme, that has alre\u00ada\u00addy hap\u00adpen\u00aded! You might be due for a new mat\u00adtress \u2013 you don\u2019t sleep so well any\u00admo\u00adre. Or a new hair\u00adstyle \u2013 may\u00adbe with a bit of colour; or may\u00adbe you\u2019\u00adre crying out for new clo\u00adthes, a new mobi\u00adle pho\u00adne, a big\u00adger TV<\/span>\u2026 Ok, the\u00adse are all pea\u00adnuts, but what if some\u00adthing should chan\u00adge in your life? If you can\u2019t move for\u00adward in your faith, then it beco\u00admes more difficult!
\nBut Paul encou\u00adra\u00adges us. He wri\u00adtes to the Colos\u00adsi\u00adans: \u00abThis good news that has rea\u00adched you is spre\u00ada\u00adding throug\u00adhout the world. Ever\u00ady\u00adwhe\u00adre it is chan\u00adging people\u2019s lives, just as it chan\u00adged yours from the moment you heard and knew the truth about the grace of God\u00bb (Colos\u00adsi\u00adans 1:6 NL<\/span>). If you have met Jesus Christ and unders\u00adtood and recei\u00adved his mes\u00adsa\u00adge, then that is the start\u00ading point of a lifel\u00adong meta\u00admor\u00adpho\u00adsis. What has Jesus alre\u00ada\u00addy chan\u00adged in your life? Now that would be inte\u00adres\u00adt\u00ading to hear some reports! May\u00adbe you haven\u2019t noti\u00adced any chan\u00adge in yours\u00adelf yet. Or Jesus has alre\u00ada\u00addy chan\u00adged some\u00adthing in you that you have rea\u00adli\u00adsed. Or the peo\u00adp\u00adle around you have obser\u00adved chan\u00adges in you that you yours\u00adelf were not awa\u00adre of. Think about it in a quiet minute. 
\nThis week I heard the tes\u00adtim\u00ado\u00adny of a fel\u00adon who beca\u00adme known as the \u00abBible Smo\u00adker\u00bb. He was in pri\u00adson for 148 offen\u00adces. The first thing he did was to ask the priest for a Bible. Not becau\u00adse he wan\u00adted to read it, but he wan\u00adted to roll his ciga\u00adret\u00adtes with the ide\u00adal\u00adly thin paper. But he read every torn out page befo\u00adre he smo\u00adked them. But he hated God and did not under\u00adstand the Bible at all. He was a dif\u00adfi\u00adcult pri\u00adsoner. Con\u00adstant\u00adly invol\u00adved in fights and if he did\u00adn\u2019t like the food, he threw it in a guard\u2019s face. In the loneli\u00adne\u00adss of soli\u00adta\u00adry con\u00adfi\u00adne\u00adment, one day he chal\u00adlen\u00adged God: \u00abGod, if you are grea\u00adter than me and you real\u00adly exist, then you must chan\u00adge me. I can\u2019t and I don\u2019t want to\u00bb. After weeks, a fel\u00adlow pri\u00adsoner said to him: \u00abTell me, are you sick? You don\u2019t have fights any\u00admo\u00adre and your food does\u00adn\u2019t fly around the dining hall! What\u2019s wrong?\u00bb \u00abI was tal\u00adking to God, about me and my life.\u00bb \u00abWha\u00adasss\u2026? Then you are real\u00adly sick!\u00bb
\nGod total\u00adly chan\u00adged the Bible smo\u00adker and today he pre\u00ada\u00adches and shares his impres\u00adsi\u00adve tes\u00adtim\u00ado\u00adny ever\u00ady\u00adwhe\u00adre. God has unli\u00admi\u00adt\u00aded pos\u00adsi\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adties to meet peo\u00adp\u00adle, even behind thick pri\u00adson walls, until they say yes to him, accept the for\u00adgi\u00adve\u00adness in Jesus and let him be the cent\u00adre of their lives. The\u00adre are peo\u00adp\u00adle who say: \u00abI can\u00adnot beco\u00adme a Chris\u00adti\u00adan yet. I still have too many con\u00ads\u00adtruc\u00adtion sites in my life. Things still have to chan\u00adge befo\u00adre I\u2019m ready.\u00bb
\nIf the\u00adse are your words, then I would like to make a sug\u00adges\u00adti\u00adon to you: Turn your pro\u00adgram\u00adme upsi\u00adde down! First let Jesus into your life and take him with you to your con\u00ads\u00adtruc\u00adtion sites. He has expe\u00adri\u00adence with human con\u00ads\u00adtruc\u00adtion sites, becau\u00adse he hims\u00adelf was a human being and \u00abchunnt dru\u00adus! Let Jesus into the pro\u00adblem are\u00adas of your life. He is the Saviour who can help and heal.
\nIs chan\u00adge on the way or are you living with the hand\u00adbra\u00adke on?
\nThe\u00adre is a gre\u00adat dan\u00adger that we beco\u00adme fix\u00ada\u00adted on a chan\u00adge we want and do not rea\u00adli\u00adse that God is at work on ano\u00adther point in our lives! A nudge from God in the right direc\u00adtion can help. Such a nudge can be many things: a flash of inspi\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon, a word of the Bible \u2013 that knocks your socks off; an ill\u00adness; a ser\u00admon \u2013 that has affec\u00adted you; an acci\u00addent; a dis\u00admis\u00adsal; an impos\u00adsi\u00adble cli\u00adma\u00adte at work; an open word from someone clo\u00adse to you; a retre\u00adat into silence \u2013 and sud\u00adden\u00adly it loo\u00adsens the but\u00adton for you! In this list I think of a very suc\u00adcessful pas\u00adtor. He pre\u00ada\u00adched, plan\u00adted a church, foun\u00added a cent\u00adre for drug addicts and the home\u00adl\u00adess, set up a reha\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon cent\u00adre for men in ano\u00adther town and also a women\u2019s shel\u00adter for vic\u00adtims of vio\u00adlence and abu\u00adse. In his pri\u00adva\u00adte life, he was occu\u00adp\u00adied by his son, who had an incura\u00adble mus\u00adcle dise\u00ada\u00adse and died at the age of 18. Sud\u00adden\u00adly his wife was so dama\u00adged in the back that she chan\u00adged from an acti\u00adve, lively woman to a dis\u00adab\u00adled per\u00adson. He beca\u00adme more and more preoc\u00adcu\u00adp\u00adied with other things that he got the impres\u00adsi\u00adon that he was a pas\u00adtor with the hand\u00adbra\u00adke on. One day God remin\u00added him of the Bible say\u00ading, \u00abYou shall be my wit\u00adnesses.\u00bb And he rea\u00adli\u00adsed that it appli\u00aded to him in this very dif\u00adfe\u00adrent situa\u00adti\u00adon. You can be a wit\u00adness for Jesus in ups and downs, in dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adties and in suc\u00adcess \u2013 as long as you hold on to Jesus. The rea\u00adli\u00adsa\u00adti\u00adon fil\u00adled him with deep peace. Are you strugg\u00adling with God becau\u00adse you had ima\u00adgi\u00adned growth and chan\u00adge in a com\u00adple\u00adte\u00adly dif\u00adfe\u00adrent way?
\nYou must not for\u00adget: God has a very nasty adver\u00adsa\u00adry who wants to pre\u00advent or reset ever\u00ady\u00adthing that God chan\u00adges for the bet\u00adter. Not just three squa\u00adres back or back to the start, no, if pos\u00adsi\u00adble back to the start of the new life! Paul gives us a good hint: \u00abDo not be con\u00adfu\u00adsed by any thought con\u00ads\u00adtructs and lof\u00adty non\u00adsen\u00adse that do not come from Christ! They are based only on human thin\u00adking and spring from the evil powers of this world\u00bb (Colos\u00adsi\u00adans 2:8 NL<\/span>). Jesus respon\u00added to tempt\u00ada\u00adti\u00adons from the ene\u00admy with God\u2019s Word. Let us do the same with a word from John: \u00abFor ever\u00adyo\u00adne who is born of God has vic\u00adto\u00adry over the world. This vic\u00adto\u00adry is made pos\u00adsi\u00adble for us by our faith: it is he who has tri\u00adum\u00adphed over the world\u00bb (1 John 5:4).
\nChan\u00adges often come from the silence befo\u00adre God. How often Jesus with\u00addrew to talk in silence with his hea\u00adven\u00adly Father! Go into his pre\u00adsence with open ears and lis\u00adten to HIM<\/span>; let HIM<\/span> chan\u00adge you! I know, silence \u2013 that is such a pious and actual\u00adly impos\u00adsi\u00adble word in a world whe\u00adre ever\u00ady\u00adthing is going cra\u00adzy! But we have no alter\u00adna\u00adti\u00adve! If you want to hear Jesus in your ever\u00ady\u00adday life, the\u00adre is only one thing to do: retre\u00adat, be quiet and lis\u00adten to His voice. The Holy Spi\u00adrit is some\u00adti\u00admes so quiet that in ever\u00ady\u00adday life the dan\u00adger of over\u00adhea\u00adring him is quite gre\u00adat. It would be easier if he would give us a good (sor\u00adry!) \u00abGing is F\u00fcdli\u00bb.
\nWe have ano\u00adther pro\u00adblem, which is often even big\u00adger than just being quiet befo\u00adre God. We see so shar\u00adply and cle\u00adar\u00adly what God should chan\u00adge in others! And often we exalt our\u00adsel\u00adves over such peo\u00adp\u00adle and get angry with them. Jesus says to this:

\n\u00abYou see the mote in your opponent\u2019s eye, but you don\u2019t see the beam in your own eye? You hypo\u00adcri\u00adte!\u00bb Jesus could dish it out pret\u00adty good. But some peo\u00adp\u00adle need that. How would Jesus chall\u00adenge the lis\u00adten\u00aders today?

\nJesus is and remains chan\u00adging us
\nand to trans\u00adform it into his image
\nJesus would also like to initia\u00adte a meta\u00admor\u00adpho\u00adsis in all peo\u00adp\u00adle today! So that ego\u00adism, greed, jea\u00adlou\u00adsy, the desi\u00adre for power and pres\u00adti\u00adge would have to make room for joy, the abili\u00adty to love, cou\u00adra\u00adge and gene\u00adro\u00adsi\u00adty. Room for genui\u00adne\u00adn\u00adess and true love, for peace and pati\u00adence. Room for good rela\u00adti\u00adons with one ano\u00adther; room for cohe\u00adsi\u00adon and mer\u00adcy. Sen\u00adsi\u00adti\u00advi\u00adty to others and to the cir\u00adcum\u00ads\u00adtances around them. Jesus real\u00adly has a lot in mind for us. This could be a stumb\u00adling block for peo\u00adp\u00adle, that\u2019s why Peter empha\u00adsi\u00ads\u00ades: \u00abBut you are dif\u00adfe\u00adrent, becau\u00adse you are a cho\u00adsen peo\u00adp\u00adle. You are a roy\u00adal priest\u00adhood, God\u2019s holy peo\u00adp\u00adle, his per\u00adso\u00adnal pos\u00adses\u00adsi\u00adon. So you are a living exam\u00adp\u00adle of God\u2019s good\u00adness, for he has cal\u00adled you out of dark\u00adness into his mar\u00advell\u00adous light\u00bb (1 Peter 2:9 NL<\/span>). We are dif\u00adfe\u00adrent as Chris\u00adti\u00adans, that\u2019s how it is. But we are far from having rea\u00adched our goal.
\nUntil Jesus comes again and takes us into his king\u00addom, we still have time to let him chan\u00adge us. He has pro\u00admi\u00adsed us that Jesus will stay with us! \u00abHe who began a good work among us will also finish it\u00bb (Phil\u00adip\u00adpians 1:6). He does not only chan\u00adge us for us, but that we may be his light and salt in this world. That is what being chan\u00adged by Jesus is all about. That we are a living tes\u00adtim\u00ado\u00adny for him. To repre\u00adsent him in this world. That peo\u00adp\u00adle beco\u00adme awa\u00adre of Jesus.
\nSomeone who has been made awa\u00adre of Jesus Christ by Chris\u00adti\u00adans is the athe\u00adist Matthew Par\u00adris, a well-known Eng\u00adlish jour\u00adna\u00adlist. As an Afri\u00adca expert, he wro\u00adte a remar\u00adkab\u00adle artic\u00adle in an online edi\u00adti\u00adon of Times some time ago. Their work is fun\u00adda\u00admen\u00adtal\u00adly dif\u00adfe\u00adrent from the work of secu\u00adlar non-govern\u00admen\u00adtal orga\u00adni\u00adsa\u00adti\u00adons, govern\u00adment pro\u00adjects and inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment aid. All the\u00adse acti\u00advi\u00adties are not enough. Trai\u00adning and gui\u00addance alo\u00adne are also not enough. In Afri\u00adca, it is Chris\u00adtia\u00adni\u00adty that chan\u00adges people\u2019s hearts. It brings about a spi\u00adri\u00adtu\u00adal trans\u00adfor\u00adma\u00adti\u00adon. This rebirth is real and the chan\u00adge is good!\u00bb What a tes\u00adtim\u00ado\u00adny from an athe\u00adist! Honest and open. He has met Afri\u00adcan Chris\u00adti\u00adans, loo\u00adked them in the eye and comes to this impression!
\nJesus does not only want to chan\u00adge us. He wants to be seen in us, here in Aar\u00adgau or whe\u00adre\u00adver we are. Peo\u00adp\u00adle should be able to see in us what Jesus can do. He also wants to chan\u00adge others through us. To start the pro\u00adcess of chan\u00adge in more peo\u00adp\u00adle. We are nee\u00added in this day and age! Your life as a Chris\u00adti\u00adan is of ine\u00adsti\u00adma\u00adble value for others! Are you suf\u00adfi\u00adci\u00adent\u00adly awa\u00adre of this? It is not about making a big splash and cele\u00adbra\u00adting suc\u00adces\u00adses, but about coping with our dai\u00adly lives in the grea\u00adtest pos\u00adsi\u00adble depen\u00addence on Jesus and thus let\u00adting some\u00adthing of the natu\u00adre of our Lord and Mas\u00adter radia\u00adte into our sur\u00adroun\u00addings. Let Jesus show you your weak points and stay open for chan\u00adge. Jesus remains with us, with you, with me, with all of us.
